Yacht Club Restaurant Review

March 18, 2011

tuna sashimi

My friends treated me to dinner at one of my favorite Bonaire dining spots, Yacht Club Restaurant. The setting is a tranquil garden with light breezes. Kim offers impeccable service and her partner Rick is a creative and innovative chef. Together they create an amazing evening with fine dining in a casual atmosphere. I celebrated my 50th b day there last evening.
Goat Cheese Spinach Spring Rolls

I had a lovely parmesan crusted barracuda filet with mashed potatoes and veggies. I sampled Shelly’s spring rolls and some of Sharon’s tuna. The entire meal was wow!

In the middle of dinner a frog leaped on Sharon’s arm. Her blood curdling scream set Shelly and I off screaming in unison. It was quite a scene all over a little frog. Once we calmed down we settled back into our dinner. I loved my fish. Scott had a filet that looked perfect (if you love meat). For dinner we had little cakes and cognac. Wow…a night of memories with good friends and great food.

To book your table take advantage of Caribbean Wind & Sun’s Free Concierge Service. Contact ann@bonairecaribbean.com to book your next vacation. Mention the Yacht Club post and Ann will provide a dining credit towards your next vacation package.

Sorobon Beach Resort – Lunch Escape

March 17, 2011

Seafood Pasta

The setting is pure Caribbean; gentle breezes, lovely tropical gardens and footsteps away from the lovely blue sea. Sorobon Beach Resort is nestled in one of the islands breeziest most secluded areas of the island yet only 8 miles to sleepy Kralendijk. I had lunch with friends. The restaurant is run by Veronique a lovely French woman with much island experience in the food service industry. My friend O’Neal is behind the bar. Our waitress was lovely. We chose the seafood pasta and a fish salad. Both entrees featured freshly caught sustainable Wahoo and Mahi Mahi also called Dradu on our island. I had a crisp Savignon Blanc as well. It was a lovely lunch in a special spot.
