Kontiki- Better Than Ever

August 21, 2011

I had the privilege of dining twice at Kontiki this month. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch under the shaded patio area with splendid views of the windsurf scene. Lunch was amazing. We enjoyed fresh fish sandwiches and cold beverages. Today I had a delicious breakfast with Miriam, the manager. We dined on Dutch pancakes, freshly squeezed juice and fresh fruit as we enjoyed the tranquil Sunday morning. Kontiki Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants away from town and in such a serene environment. The trades cool the dining area and nature abounds. Bram is the chef and comes with extensive experience from years spent in Italy and overseas. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you are certain to have a treat dining at Kontiki.

The property is windsurf paradise. From the dining room or most rooms, one can enjoy views of the windsurf scene. A short 3 minute car ride brings the sailor to Lac Bay. World class freestyle and slalom events have been held in these pristine waters. The white powder sand and onshore trades make this the perfect beach. Kontiki hosts hundreds of windsurfers each year due to it’s perfect location. My repeat clientele affirms my belief that Kontiki is perfect for the windsurf enthusiast.

The property features comfortable studios, one and two bedroom suites and two spacious villas. I have personally stayed at Kontiki and have toured the updated refurbished rooms. Miriam and Martin and their staff have created a true oasis with a price tag that fits every budget. Right now we are offering stay 7 pay for 6 nights good until Dec. 15th, 2011. This special applies to new bookings. Conditions apply so email ann@bonairecaribbean.com for details. Mention Bonaire Bliss and earn an additional treat, a bar credit at Kontiki.

Seaside Luncheon at Sorobon

August 19, 2011

My colleague and I had a delightful luncheon at Sorobon yesterday. The views are stellar, the breezes cooling and F&B Manager, John Ceballos insures everything flows perfectly. I loved my seared tuna salad and my friend loved her grilled salmon. I typically take food photos but yesterday, focused on the sea. After, I went for a swim and read a few chapters. My Bonaire Bliss.

Jamaican Sunday BBQ at Kishikishi

August 15, 2011

Dianne and Georgie have created a lovely Sunday experience at their Caribbean inspired restaurant, Kishikishi. Located at the Butterfly Farm on Kaminda Lac they offer a Sunday Jamaican BBQ for 12.50 USD. I enjoyed their BBQ yesterday on a sunny Bonaire afternoon.

Jerk Chicken Delight

Robert Bryan, a creative Jamaican chef spun out a delicious meal complete with Jamaican inspired recipes including the expected and quite delicious, jerk chicken. His rice and peas as as good as my mother in laws. I loved the veggies and the plantains. I washed this down with an lovely awe di lumunchi (homemade lemonade). Before gratuity my total was 16.00.

I also had lunch at Kishikishi last week. The local goat cheese spring rolls were divine. My dining companion loved his sampler with fish, a veggie tart and other delicious treats. Lunch was relaxed and tranquil in this lovely breezy cafe.

Villa Ganshi- Oceanfront Spectacular

August 12, 2011

I am excited to offer a new property to my inventory, Villa Ganshi. This upscale yet casual villa is on the sea in tranquil Bonaire. The closest dive site, Something Special and the sea in front is teeming with sea life. I have enjoyed night and day snorkeling off the beach at this villa and have been amazed at the variety of fish. It’s a special location. The villa features open air design with comfortable furnishings, airy fabrics and intriguing art.

The villa features a master suite set in a private entry near the living area. A second bedroom is in the main house facing the sea. The modern compact kitchen has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The property is enhanced by mature tropical gardens and many outdoor seating areas including an upper deck with splendid views of the sea and coastline. This is the perfect spot for stargazing.

Villa Ganshi is conveniently located in Playa Pabou with 5 restaurants within a 5 minute walk and town center, a 15 min stroll down the seaside promenade. Windsurfing is 15 minutes south and there are a plethora of dive sites within a short ride.
