Windsurfing Summer

There is so much going on this summer in Lac Bay. First off, the wind has been non stop since May. The crowds are down and it’s the perfect time to enjoy a windsurf holiday. Kontiki- Better Than Ever

I had the privilege of dining twice at Kontiki this month. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch under the shaded patio area with splendid views of the windsurf scene. Lunch was amazing. We enjoyed fresh fish sandwiches and cold beverages. Today I had a delicious breakfast with Miriam, the manager. We dined on Dutch pancakes, freshly squeezed juice and fresh fruit as we enjoyed the tranquil Sunday morning. Kontiki Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants away from town and in such a serene environment. The trades cool the dining area and nature abounds. Bram is the chef and comes with extensive experience from years spent in Italy and overseas. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you are certain to have a treat dining at Kontiki.

The property is windsurf paradise. From the dining room or most rooms, one can enjoy views of the windsurf scene. A short 3 minute car ride brings the sailor to Lac Bay. World class freestyle and slalom events have been held in these pristine waters. The white powder sand and onshore trades make this the perfect beach. Kontiki hosts hundreds of windsurfers each year due to it’s perfect location. My repeat clientele affirms my belief that Kontiki is perfect for the windsurf enthusiast.

The property features comfortable studios, one and two bedroom suites and two spacious villas. I have personally stayed at Kontiki and have toured the updated refurbished rooms. Yellow House – Villa of the Month on Windy Lac Bay

Our villa of the month is the Yellow House on Lac Bay. This lovely property is the perfect escape for a windsurf family or group. The villa is situated amidst a lovely tropical mature garden.  Attached to the living room is a private porch perfect for reading, cocktails or coffee.  The  second floor offers access to a private sun deck with beautiful views of the bay and  mangroves.

The house is fully furnished and features lovely art enhancing the mood. There is a well equipped kitchen. This private house is suitable for 6 persons. There are 3 bedrooms, one master bedroom with queen sized bed on ground level with private bathroom with shower and toilet and  two bedrooms with both a queen sized bed on second floor, sharing a bathroom with shower and toilet. All beds can be made as twin-beds. Each bedroom has air conditioning. There is a lovely gourmet restaurant next door for sumptuous breakfasts, casual bay view luncheons and romantic candlelight dining.  Our windsurf launch is minutes away. Yellow House is managed by Miriam and Martin, of Kontiki. Their management services are second to none.

Latin Music Benefit at Kontiki

Sunday, June 28th, KonTiki and DIKAZZ will organize a Latin-jazz evening.

Andreina (vocals), Carlos (conga), Gaby (drums), Byron (keyboards), Robbie (guitar) and Lando (bas-guitar) will play their finest music. From easy listening jazz to swinging Latin groove.

Guest artist this evening will be Terence de Haseth, well-known guitar player on Bonaire.

The funds raised  will fully benefit  Rianca, a 3-year Venezuelan girl with leukemia. Her grandfather and grandmother live on Bonaire, but she stays with her parents in Maracaibo at the moment.

There is an urgent need for a bone marrow transplant.

During this evening we will organize a raffle with great prizes to win, made available by:

Sugar Thieves and a Peak in Back at the Wind

I am blessed with some amazing clients who come back year after year to Bonaire. Two of my special friends are Eduardo and Mirtha.  They are muy sympatico and truly wonderful people. They recently sent me this video taken on one of their trips to Kontiki. Being a bird lover I was entralled to watch the “sugar thieves”  but even greater is the background nuke session..take a peak at the sailors cruising on our lovely bay.
