Curacao Bliss

My travels to and from the US often involve a stopover in Curacao. For the past 14 years, I have experienced several hotels whilst on island. The place I keep returning is Floris Suites. First discovered in 2002, I fell in love with the chic modern property with unique furnishings and lovely pool setting. Recently my boyfriend and I had a post New Years stay and experienced pure bliss. From our reservation experience to arrival and check out, we were pampered and treated like royalty.

Comprised of 72 luxury suites, the property has experienced a fantastic facelift.  Retaining the boutique hotel experience, all suites reflect a contemporary European feel. The property offers an array of amenities including an entertainment, free WIFI, spa services, beach, tennis and the signature of the property; an amazing pool. All of the loungers are spread about discreetly allowing guests to have privacy and space. There are two fabulous cabanas for intimate relaxation.

We had the unique privilege of enjoying a poolside Royal King Suite. The room was massive with a huge bath and shower room complete with a large kidney shaped tub, fit for two. The rain forest shower with side jets was well appreciated after a day of work. We slept soundly in our king bed complete with Egyptian cotton crisp white linens complete with feather pillows and duvet. The living room was spacious as well. It was a quiet oasis for rest, insuring a wonderful night’s sleep.

Dining was sublime at Sjalotte. The dining area is al fresco and again, tables are spread out insuring an intimate experience. The waitstaff are professional and efficient allowing impeccable service. We ordered from the 3 course menu offered which was an amazing deal for 39.00 USD. We also had our dinner paired with a wine course for a reasonable addition. Plating is creative and artistic. Flavors are bold and delectable.

The property features a small beach a short walk or shuttle away. There is a bar and restaurant with basic fare. We recommend light bites and slushy tropical drinks.  We had well made pina coladas whilst enjoying the view. It was the perfect ending of a lovely day.
